The Latest From Creature Concerning Coronavirus

UPDATE: December 10, 2020

At Creature Studio we continue to operate under the strict and rigorous coronavirus safety protocols that we have previously laid out. Unfortunately, we are still keeping our waiting area closed to prevent overcrowding in an indoor space. We are also still requiring masks 100% of the time by every single person in our space and we are still cleaning like crazy. We continue to keep staff and clients spread out at Creature leaving chairs open in between stations. We sincerely appreciate your patience and support during this ongoing difficult time for all of us. We hope you and your family are doing everything you can to stay happy and safe. And most importantly we would like to extend our love, thoughts and support to all those touched by this tragedy.

UPDATE: July 7, 2020

We are now open normal hours with a return to all services however our operating procedures will continue to be extremely detailed and cautious concerning sanitation and social distancing. We will continue to clean sanitize every surface after every interaction, wear masks at all times, take temperature checks upon entry, keep one salon chair station open in between every client, require regular Covid-19 testing of all staff and monitor and adhere to guidance from federal and local agencies and scientists concerning how to best limit operate safely. We understand that everyone has to make their own personal choices in this uncertain time that is why our top priority is to create the safest possible environment for you and for us. As always thank you all so much for your continued support.

The following letter was sent to current clients on April 23, 2020.

To my Creature family,
After much deliberation and soul searching we will resume seeing clients in the salon on May 4th. Before I go any further I want you to know that Ray and I will continue to monitor all of the news, data and guidance and will not hesitate to adjust this timetable as things unfold over the next two weeks. These are unprecedented times with confusing guidance and scarce leadership. In another reality I would keep Creature closed until there was a vaccine or at least a successful treatment, but this is just not a possibility for me. For starters it is not unlikely that the Governor's decision to reopen some businesses including ours will make it difficult for us to get unemployment for our employees. At the same time the SBA loans/grants that were supposed to be earmarked for small businesses like ours remain out of reach along with many many of our business owner friends. I run a small baby business who was just beginning to come into her own when this shutdown happened.

We accept the reality that we have to reopen in some capacity at some point in the near future to be able to survive this. Our client family has really stepped up with purchasing gift cards, products, and prepaying for services, and we cannot express in words how much we appreciate this, but the reality is that this can not sustain us in the long term. I also know that the changes we are making in our daily lives will not be going away any time soon. We will be wearing masks, gloves, and hand washing like crazy for months to come. This is our new normal so I’m ready to accept that. I will also explain why I feel like we can do this with cautious safety.

Those of you who we’ve had the pleasure of serving at Creature know that it is probably one of the cleanest salons you have ever been in. We take pride in keeping our salon home as spotless as possible and we amped up our disinfecting protocol before the shutdown and will continue implementing those strategies. I have also taken this time to continue educating myself, including a class on disinfecting protocols which gave me access to some amazing products.

Anyone in the salon will be required to wear a mask. This includes clients and staff. We will have some disposable ones available, but these are very expensive and hard to obtain so please bring your own if you have one. Just keep in mind that if you are getting your hair done the mask will have to fasten behind your ears, not tie around your head. If you need a washable mask we will have some locally made ones for sale at the salon. We will also be doing daily temperature checks on staff to make sure everyone is well. No one who has been feeling ill or who has knowingly been exposed to the virus will be coming to work. I respectfully ask that you stay home if you fall into this category as well. I am not naive and know that I could be exposed to an asymptomatic person, but I will take all CDC recommended precautions to protect myself and our Creature family.

We will be operating on a limited schedule the first month so please be patient with us as we reschedule your appointments. We will only have at max 4 stylists working at a time, one general assistant, and our amazing manager Adrian. We will also be splitting our staff into 2 groups that will not over lap as an added precaution. I feel so lucky to be navigating this crisis with amazing people surrounding me. We will get comfortable in our new normal and we will get through all of this together. I can not wait to hug you all again.

I really do look forward to seeing you all and filling up my heart bucket which has been depleted by your absence. Please be gentle with us and know that we are not making these decisions in haste and are trying to do the best we can for ourselves, our loved ones, and you.

As always if you have any questions at all you can email us at info@creatureatl.com or call at 678-701-7484 anytime.

Sincerely,

Jenn Jones
